Lambeth Housing Audit - Conservatives drop bombshell

Personally, I'm not convinced that there's as much Conservative support in Princes ward as the number of blue/green boards in Kennington Road would have you believe. I think that the residents are highly likely to be local Tory MPs who have their London residences in the road. However, if the boards are representative, then Labour, Lib Dems and Green are going to have to work their socks off in the election to compete, as I've not seen as much visible signage anywhere else! Has anybody got reports of Labour/Lib Dem/Green signs up anywhere?

In the meantime, somebody from the Lambeth Tories has, according to Twitter, managed to get hold of a report from the Audit Commission, damning Lambeth Living (the organisation that manages Lambeth's Social Housing). It's an Arms Length Management Organisation, for those who like the lingo. Apparently, the Audit Commission has said that every single area audited within the Lambeth Living organisation is "weak". More information about this matter is on the Lambeth Conservative website.

And what's more, due to the fact that the Auditor's report is currently being witheld, the Tories say they're prepared to publish the document on the Lambeth Conservative website for everyone to read... Looks like red hot stuff to me. I hope they have good lawyers!

On posters I can confirm two things.

Firstly there are at least three Conservative MPs on Kennington Road - Oliver Letwin is one of them.

Secondly when I was out in the Courtnay Square area a couple of weeks back people were grabbing Lib Dem posters off me - so at least 6 went up in two streets there in an hour.

On the Conservatives generally I think it's fair to say they haven't got a chance. They were saying this too in the Vassall by election last year (similar demographics to Princes) and got less than 9% of the vote.

Disagree with Mr Blackie. I am a Labour activist, so feel free to take my words with a pinch of salt, but it is a totally different feel to Vassall. Last year the Tories put out one leaflet, and that was about it. This year they have teams of people knocking on doors every night. The fact is the Tories pushed Lib Dems into a distant third in Princes ward last year.

I really think this is going to be tight between all three. On poster counts, all parties about the same, but Tory signs are bigger and brighter!

Red Kennington does of course have a vested interest in a high Tory vote - since they're much more likely to vote tactically for the Lib Dems to get rid of Labour than vice versa.

My experience yesterday of canvassing in the Ethelred was that there were virtually no Conservatives, while my experience in the posher bits of the ward was to find virtually no Labour voters.

Having looked on Kennington road one of the posterboards is definitely outside Oliver Letwin's house - who won't be able to vote here of course, because he'll be voting in Dorset, where his constituency is.
