I received a letter at the end of June, advising that Gallagher are attempting to vary a condition (one of opening hours) for the ground floor level on 216 Kennington Road (likely to be a Tesco Metro).
Gallaher are applying to change the opening hours from 07:00am - 09:00pm (Monday to Friday) to 07:00am - 11:00pm (Monday to Friday).
If you agree, disagree or want to comment, you can email lambethplanning@lambeth.gov.uk quoting reference: 10/02164/FUL
The deadline is 20th July 2010.

Album of the Day: XTC – Apple Venus Volume 1 This was a little too knowing
for my liking. It sounds as though Partridge wants to shoehorn as much
nostalgia...

Gallagher do represent Sainsburys and other supermarkets as well as the Big T. Is there any concrete evidence now, beyond the widespread rumours, that it is Tesco?
REALLY hope not...
Paul, I honestly can't remember. I have a feeling that somebody went and spoke to people looking around the building and asked and the rumour emerged then, but that was ages ago. I certainly don't have any /certain/ knowledge, so fingers crossed for a Sainsbury (or anything but another Tesco).
I'd rather have a tesco than a kebab shop or an estate agent or a bookshop (I like the new bookshop next to due amici)or a pub 9there are enough pubs) or a hairdresser....
Have now checked Lambeth Planning. CgMs Consultants are named on the planning application as well as Gallagher, and do all of the Tesco Express planning applications, according to this:

I fear it is beyond hope.
we need something other than Tesco
I have no objections to changing planning permissions etc - but not so that Tesco can help close every independent part of Kenningtons businesses.
